Secretary-General of The Hague Academy of International Law
Jean-Marc Thouvenin is the Secretary-General of The Hague Academy of International Law since 2017. Also, he is Professor agrégé at the University Paris Ouest Nanterre-La Défense since 2001. Moreover, he is member and former Director of the CEDIN (Centre for International Law) since 2008 and Member and former Secretary general of the French Society for International Law and many others.
During several cases of the International Court of Justice, he was legal adviser and advocate, for example in the Counsel for Iran and the Counsel for Chili.
Also, he is editor or co-editor of several books, among others: Ombres et Lumières du droit international, Mélanges en l’honneur du Professeur Habib Slim (2016) and The Influence of Human Rights on International Law (2015).
